Steve-O is a British-American-Canadian, actor, stunt performer, producer, comedian, author, musician, and clown. He first made himself known to the world in the MTV American television series, Jackass. He was also a cast member in the Jackass movies as well as on the spin off show, Wildboyz. Stephen Gilchrist Glover, also known as Steve-O, was born on June 13, 1974, in the Wimbledon district of London, England, to Donna Gay, a Canadian and Richard Glover, and American. His maternal grandfather was a legendary voice-over announcer, Wayne Howell, who announced for the NBC radio and television networks. He loved in Brazil for many years with his family as a child, because his father was the president of the South American division of Pepsi-Cola. As a child, he also lived in Toronto and Ontario, Canada as well as Venezuela, Connecticut, and Miami. When he was nine years old, they moved back to London, where Steve-O attended The American School in London, in St. John’s Wood for four years. After high school, he attended the University of Miami, but dropped out after year, because of poor grades and his constant acts of disobedience. He then attended the University of New Mexico from 1996 – 1997, but his love of school came from him attending the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey College in 1997, in which he graduated from. However, he was not selected work with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, but he did work at the Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop. During his time as a clown at the swap shop, he filmed his stunts and performances.
Steve-O started his career in entertainment as a clown at the flea market, but he also taped his stunts and sent them to Jeff Tremaine, the editor of the television show, Big Brother, at the time. After recruiting Steve-O for the television show, Jackass, Tremaine, became the director of the show. After the show went off of the air, MTV, released five movies based on the show, titled, Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two, Jackass 2.5, Jackass 3D, and Jackass 3.5. In 2001, he released the uncensored DVD, Don’t Try This at Home. Steve-O toured Europe with his friend and co-star of Jackass, Bam Margera in 2003, but Steve-O was arrested for swallowing a condom containing cannabis to get past airport security, in Sweden. In his video, Steve-O: Out on Bail, he showed how he regurgitated the condom as well as showing his arrest in Pennsylvania, for urinating on potato chips in public. Later, in 2005, he launched his own shoe company, Sneaux Shoes, in which his commercial was supposed to make consumers laugh as well as show the tough endurance of the shoes. He was a co-star on the MTV television show, Wildboyz, until the show ended in 2006. His crazy personality also landed him as a contestant on the British reality show, Love Island, as a contestant. In 2007, he starred in his own television show, Dr. Steve-O, which was a show about “de-wussifying,” guests. During that same year, Steve-O also appeared in the film, National Lampoon’s TV: The Movie, which also featured some of his Jackass castmates. The next year, his stuntman skills was taken to, Jackass MTV 24 Hour Takeover, which promoted JackassWorld.com as well as his rap video. In 2009, he was a contestant on the television show, Dancing with the Stars, but was eliminated in week six. During the later part of 2010, Steve-O began touring the United States performing stand-up comedy, called, Steve-O’s Entirely Too Much Information Tour, which led to him announcing a nine month long comedy tour, in 2011. The 2011 year, also led him to release his autobiography, Professional Idiot: a Memoir as well as appear on Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. In 2012, he became the host of the reality game show, Killer Karaoke, which was the American version of the British competition, Sing If You Can.
