Rowan Atkinson is a very popular Comedian, actor and screenplay writer from England. He is the youngest of four children born to Eric Atkinson and Ella May. He went to the Durham Choristers School and St Bees School. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from Newcastle University. He completed his M.Sc. at Queens College, Oxford.
He became popular in England with his performance at Oxford Revue at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe -1976. By the time he had gained national attention, he had already written many sketches for Etceteras – Experimental Theatre Club (ETC) at Oxford. He made friends with writer Richard Curtis and Howard Goodall, Composer. They formed a team for many future ventures.
In 1979, he featured on BBC Radio 3 in a program called The Atkinson People. This program, written by his friend Richard Curtis had a series of comic interviews of fictional great men.

This series saw three more popular sequels and even spawned other shows like “Blackadder’s Christmas Carol”, “Blackadder the Cavalier Years” and another in 1999 “Blackadder: Back & Forth”
Mr.Bean is a hapless character, but a very popular with the audience. Atkinson’s’ famous act on this series debuted in 1990 for the Thames Television. This series ran for six years and it was even made as a feature film in 1997. Though Atkinson retired the character, it was revived as an animated web series and TV show in the year 2014.
Atkinson has starred in movies like Mr.Bean – movie; Mr. Bean’s Holiday; Maigret and the Johnny English series movies – Johnny English 2003, Johnny English Reborn and Johnny English Strikes Again.
He was also the part of the star cast for movies like Dead on Time The Witches, The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, Rat Race, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Keeping Mum, Love Actually, and Never Say Never Again (James Bond film). He gave his voice for the character Zau in the very popular animated movie, The Lion King.
Atkinson has worked in ad campaigns for Fujifilm, Barclaycard, Kronenbourg, Snickers, and Give Blood. He appeared as Mr.Bean in the opening ceremony of 2012 Summer Olympics.
