Paul Marcarelli was born on May 24, 1970, in North Haven Connecticut. He attended North Haven High School and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Fairfield University, in 1992. He has a twin brother, Matthew, who is a highly decorated firefighter and Assistant Chief of Operations at the New Haven Fire Department.
