Max Baer Jr. was born and raised in Oakland in California City. He is the son of the famous boxing champion Max Baer and had a Jewish- Scottish and German descent. His mother is Mary Ellen Sullivan. His uncle was also a boxer and an actor and his name was Buddy Baer. Max Jr. had a brother named James Manny Baer and a sister Maude Baer.
Max did his schooling from Christian Brothers High School which is in Sacramento and this was the place where he won the junior title at the Sacramento Open golf tournament twice. He did his graduation from the Santa Clara University in business administration. He always stayed friends with Buddy Ebsen until his death in the year 2003 because of pneumonia and just before his death Dona Douglas and Max Jr. had visited him in the hospital.

Max Baer Jr. had a great career and is known for his role in The Beverly Hillbillies where he portrayed the character of the nephew of Jed Clampett which was played by Buddy Ebsen. And after Donna Douglas passed away in the year 2015 he remains the last alive member of the cast. Although he did his debut in Goldilocks and the Three Bears in 1949, he started with his professional acting career with Warner Bros in the year 1960 and was seen in Maverick, The Roaring 20’s and 77 Sunset Strip but he came into the limelight almost two years later when he was a member of the cast in The Beverly Hillbillies in which he played the role of Jethro Bodaine. This role was the highest point of his career.
In the year 1974, Max Baer started to concentrate more on his career behind the camera in direction, production, and writing.
Macon County Line was a drama that he wrote in which he played the character of Reed Morgan which is also the highest grossing movie per dollar that was invested at that time.
