Jason Alexander is in the show business as an actor, comedian, Singer, Director and Producer. His popularity stems from his role as George Costanza in the nine seasons long comedy show Seinfeld.
Jason was named Jay Scott Greenspan at birth and the present one is his stage name. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 2, 1959 to Nurse and Health administrator Ruth Minnie and Accounting manager Alexander B. Greenspan, both of Jewish descent.
He studied at Livingston High school and went to the Boston University. It was his professor at Boston University who directed him towards a career as a comic actor.
Jason started acting first on New York stage and then moved towards TV and film industry. Some of his Broadway shows are A Christmas Carol, The Producers, Merrily We Roll Along The Rink, Fish in the Dark, The Portuguese kid, Broadway Bound and Jerome Robbins’s Broadway. He has also directed a couple of shows.
On TV, the show which made him famous was Seinfeld. He has been a part of Crub your Enthusiasm series, Dinosaurs –an ABC series, Everybody Hates Chris, Criminal Minds – a CBS series acted plus directed one of the episodes, Harry’s Law Thank God You’re Here, Listen Up! – a CBS series, an episode in the very popular Friends series, Star Trek Voyager, Monk, Politically Incorrect, Malcolm in the Middle, Hollywood Squares, Late Late show, Bye Bye Birdie and Muppets Tonight.
Jason has had a long career in movies he has featured in about 50 movies including Voice-over of many Disney Production movies as well.
One of his most famous roles was for the movie Pretty Women. He also worked in The Last Supper, The Man Who Saved Christmas, Dunston Checks In, Hachi: A Dg’s Tale, A Farly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, Love! Valor! Compassion, Jacob’s Ladder and Love and Action in Chicago. He directed few movies like Just looking and For Better or Worse.
Jason has appeared in commercials like Miller Lite, ASPCA, Rold Gold Pretzels, DaimlerChrysler and Kentucky Fried Chicken. He has also features in some music videos.
His first voice over was for the character Catbert in Dilbert animated series. Jason has given Voice-over for the role of Joseph in a Bible production called Word of Promise in the year 2009. He also gave his voice to the character Abis Mal in the Disney series The Return of Jafar. He also lent his voice to the Disney’ animation “The hunchback of Notre Dame” in later years.
