Jasmine Crockett Grilled Over PAC Spending, Lavish Travel
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is facing allegations of hypocrisy after financial records revealed the progressive firebrand accepted nearly $400,000 from political action committees despite previously claiming otherwise. The controversy extends beyond campaign finances to include luxury international trips funded by foreign governments, including one connected to Qatar.
Campaign finance disclosure documents reviewed by The New York Post show that Crockett, who has positioned herself as an opponent of corporate influence in politics, accepted donations from dozens of PACs representing major corporations across multiple industries.
The 44-year-old congresswoman had tweeted in 2020 that she accepted “zero dollars” from corporate PACs while her opposition had taken $192,000. However, campaign finance disclosures from that same year show 22 different entries from donors described as PACs, contributing between $500 and $5,000 to her state representative campaign for District 100 in the Dallas area.

Corporate Donations Despite Anti-Corporate Rhetoric
Since winning election to Congress, Crockett has expanded her PAC funding sources considerably. Public records show she has accepted more than $370,000 in federal contributions from PACs representing corporations or business associations since 2022, according to The Washington Examiner.
These donors include pharmaceutical companies AbbVie and Gilead Sciences, financial giants BlackRock and Goldman Sachs, defense contractors Lockheed Martin and RTX, and household brands such as McDonald’s, Home Depot, CVS, Verizon, and Toyota. The donations stand in stark contrast to Crockett’s public statements, where she has repeatedly criticized “corporate greed” and praised colleagues for standing against “corporate interests.”
“What’s controversial about [PACs] is people fundamentally see it as an issue of buying one’s support,” said Professor Matthew Foster, a lecturer on government at American University. “Democrats are more sensitive to this. They know people look at their contributions and use them against them… Clearly [Crockett] thinks that issue is a big deal and a way to resonate with voters — so if what they put out there was false, it’s a great opportunity for the opposition to run on that.”

Foreign-Funded Luxury Travel
Beyond campaign funding, Crockett’s congressional disclosures reveal multiple international trips paid for by foreign entities. Just one month after being elected to the U.S. House, she traveled to Doha, Qatar, at a cost of approximately $17,500. The trip was funded by the U.S. Qatar Business Council, which has documented ties to the Qatari government.
During the February 2023 trip, Crockett stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Lusail Doha, a five-star waterfront resort featuring seven luxury restaurants and a waterpark. The disclosure shows the trip involved meetings arranged between Crockett and high-ranking members of the Qatari government.
Additional financial disclosures show Crockett also accepted cultural exchange trips in 2023 paid for by the governments of India and the United Arab Emirates. All three international trips occurred before the Hamas terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
“At a minimum, it looks horrible… Even if it’s just travel expenses covered and a place to stay overnight,” Foster noted. “It’s one of those borderline issues where you can form an argument for either side as to whether or not the member traveled as part of their role.”

Crypto Industry Support
Records also indicate that before taking office, Crockett benefited from significant super PAC spending by cryptocurrency interests. Protect our Future PAC and WEB3 Forward, two PACs funded by crypto moguls including the now-disgraced Sam Bankman-Fried, spent over $2 million supporting Crockett’s campaign during a heated Democratic primary.
Crockett, who draws a $174,000 annual salary as a member of the House of Representatives, has recently faced criticism for other controversies, including referring to wheelchair-using Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” – a remark she claimed was not related to his disability.
Her office did not respond to The New York Post’s request for comment on the PAC funding discrepancy, though her chief of staff told The Washington Examiner, “The congresswoman files her financial disclosures and all required documents in accordance with federal law.”
