Joanne Rowling was born on 31 July 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England. Her father, Peter James Rowling was a Rolls –Royce aircraft engineer and mother, Anne Rowling a scientific technician. She is a novelist, television producer, film producer, screenwriter and a philanthropist and has worked on genres relating to fantasy, drama, young adult fiction, tragicomedy and crime fiction. In 2004, she was named as the first woman author to become a billionaire just by writing books and further, she was recognized as the second richest entertainer, positioning herself in one of the richest people on the world.
She is best known for writing the Harry Potter fantasy series that sold more than 400 million copies worldwide. She writes under the pen names J.K Rowling and Robert Galbraith.
Her story shows how she progressed from living on state benefits to becoming the world’s first billionaire author. Rowling generated a $15 billion brand which gave her a net worth of less than $1 billion after the release of Harry Potter series in 2007. Her teenage life was not much of a happy time. She married a television journalist Jorge Arantes on 16 October 1992 and gave birth to her little daughter Jessica Isabel Rowling on 27 July 1993. After that things went on a little rough for the couple due to her mental health and they finally split up in the year 1995. After the divorce, she began teaching at the Moray School of Education at Edinburg University, and married a guy names Neil Murray in 2001 and is the mother of 3 children now.
Rowling’s bestseller includes Harry Potter series which was converted into a movie later on. It was counted as one of the best-selling books in the history. Her works also comprise of books like The Casual Vacancy, Cormoran Strike, The Silkworm and Career of Evil.
