Stonestreet is the son of Vincent Anthony and Jamey Anne. During his childhood days, he always wanted to become a clown. As a child, he made a clown character who he named as Fizbo. By the age 11, he began performing at old birthday parties of 6-7 year olds. The same name was used as a clown character he frequently played in his current show Modern Family. Eric finished his graduation from Piper High School and went to Kansas State University. He graduated from the university with a degree in Sociology in the year 1996.
While studying in KSU, he performed in various plays including Prelude To Kiss, All My Sons and even Twelfth Night. He later studied Improv at the Improv Olympic and then went to The Second City Training Center located in Chicago. Thereafter, he shifted to Los Angeles to begin his formal acting career.
