Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born on 2nd May, 1972. He was born in Hayward, California, to his mother, Ata Johnson and his father, Rocky Johnson, the famous professional wrestler. Johnson was born into a family deeply involved in professional wrestling; his father Rocky Johnson as well as his maternal grandfather was Peter “High Chief” Fanene Maivia, a professional wrestler of his time. As a child, Johnson had seen his father wrestle in the ring many times. His father was of Black Nova Scotian descent and a small amount of Irish. His mother was of Samoan descent. Johnson, as a school-going child, was involved in his school’s football and wrestling teams. He first began playing football in the 11th grade, at the Freedom High School in East Penn Conference. Being an amazing football player, Johnson was admitted in to the University of Miami on a full scholarship due to his fantastic football skills. But because of bad luck, he sustained a back injury which forced him to quit football. Johnson graduated college in 1995 with bachelor’s degree in General Studies in Criminology and Physiology. Johnson tried to pursue a career in football at the Canadian Football League, but failed. He then took up wrestling like a lot of his blood and non-blood relatives. He played multiple try-out matches in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and after wrestling in the United States Wrestling Association, Johnson signed a contract with the WWF and made his debut as Rocky Maivia, a fusion of the ring names of his father and grandfather.
