William Bruce Jenner, now known as Caitlyn Jenner, was born on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York, to Esther Ruth and William Hugh Jenner. Her father was an aborist and she has two sisters, Lisa and Pam. Before Caitlyn’s success at the Olympic games, her younger brother, Burt, was killed, in a car accident, in Canton Connecticut in 1976. Jenner was diagnosed with dyslexia when she was younger and she attended Sleepy Hollow High School in Sleepy Hollow, New York in her freshman and sophomore years, but when she was a junior and senior years, she attended Newtown High School, in Newtown, Connecticut and graduated in 1968. She earned a football scholarship to Graceland College, now known as Graceland University, in Lamoni, Iowa. However, she was forced to stop playing because of a knee injury, but her coach, L.D. Weldon, encouraged her to join the decathlon. In 1970, after joining the decathlon, she came in fifth at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Graceland College in 1973 with a degree in physical education. With her athletic career taking off from high school and through college, she found her love and passion in being an athlete. However, since the years of becoming a well known athlete, she has been married three times and has six children. She married, Christie Scott Crownover in 1972 and they had two children, Burton “Burt” Jenner and Cassandra “Casey” Marino.
