Alonzo was born on eighth of February in the year 1970 in Chesapeake, Virginia America. At the time of his High School at Indian River in Chesapeake, he led his team to straight 51 victories and a state title in his junior year. When he was a senior he had averaged 25 points, 15 rebounds, and twelve blocked shots a game.
He was also named as the player of the year by the USA today. Then during his college years, he played basketball for the Georgetown University Hoyas. In his last year he led the nation in blocked shots.
Alonzo and his wife Tracy have three children together. A son named Alonzo III, a daughter named Myka Sydney and a younger son named Alijah who was born in the year 2009 on September 18.
He has also been a part of the controversy in the year 2011 when he was sued by a Miami based lawyer Spencer Aronfield on behalf of Alberto Candelaria for crashing his car into another car and then leaving the site of the incident. He was then later charged by Florida Highway Patrol. Allegedly the accident had occurred after he had left Chris Bosh’s wedding on Miami Beach after around 3:00 am.
Alberto at that time had just been in an accident when Alonzo struck his car. Alberto suffers from Amnesia. Alonzo claims that he wasn’t aware if he was in his car when Alonzo had hit him.
In the year 2003 on November 25, Jason Cooper who is Alonzo’s cousin who was visiting Alonzo’s ill grandmother was informed by the mourning’s father that he was going to retire from the NBA the same day. He said this was because of a life-threatening kidney disease called Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. Cooper donated his kidney to his brother who he had not seen in the last twenty-five years.

Alonzo is best known for his basketball career. He had represented America in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and had won the Gold medal. After his kidney transplant, he won the 2006 NBA championship.
